Department of Health reviewing regulations on cryogenics after UK charity reveals children as young as 7 have signed up

Regulations on cryonics are being reviewed in the wake of the case of a 14-year-old girl who was frozen after her death.

The Department of Health said it was conducting a review after concerns were raised about Cryonics UK during the court case in which the British teenager won the right to be cryogenically preserved in America.

The trust of the hospital where she died also claimed that Cryonics UK members were “under-equipped and disorganised” when they arrived to prepare the girl’s body.

Cryonics UK revealed that it has about four or five children on its membership and had been asked to freeze a seven-year-old. The procedure did not go ahead as the child died before arrangements could be made.
