IS ZE KIDDING ME? College Resource Center: Here’s How You Conjugate Gender-Alternative Pronouns

Kennesaw State University’s LBGT Resource Center is kindly helping students who are gender-challenged and see human beings as simply “he” or “she.” The Resource Center has released a pamphlet that not only lists additional pronouns such as “ne,” “ve,” “ey,” “ze,” and “xe,” but even conjugates them for you!

The “Gender Neutral Pronouns” pamphlet was obtained by Campus Reform. Reporter Toni Airaksinen writes that the pamphlet enlightens students that “some people don’t feel like traditional gender pronouns fit their gender identities,” and instructs readers as to the proper usage of the pronouns, whether they are used in the nominative case, the objective case, or as possessive or reflexive pronouns.

As Airaksinen notes, “To refer to a student who identifies as ‘ve,’ the pamphlet explains that one would say ‘Vis eyes gleam’ or ‘I called ver.’”

In the true spirit of gender fluidity, the pamphlet also warns that students “may change their pronouns without changing their name, appearance, or gender identity,” adding that preferred pronouns be re-confirmed during “check-ins at meetings or in class.”

But the pamphlet has sympathy for those of us who are genuinely confused by this expansion of modes of address, stating, “It can be tough to remember pronouns at first. Correct pronoun use is an easy step toward showing respect for people of every gender.
