National Transgender Celebration in Manchester Cathedral

from the website:

Sparkle is the National Transgender Celebration, a weekend festival held every July in the Village area of Manchester. Sparkle is the largest event of its type in Europe, now in its thirteenth year. In 2016 over twelve thousand people attended Sparkle, this year even more are expected. Sparkle provides a chance for all transgender people, and their allies, to meet up and have a fun weekend. It provides a free, open and safe space for all transgender people, no matter if they are living full-time in their preferred gender or just ‘dressing’ for occasional days or nights out.

Sparkle in the Cathedral is an open invitation for the visitors to Manchester, and those who live locally, to be a part of the Sunday morning service at the cathedral. While to some this may be just an invite to perform their regular worship in a different venue, for others this may be a rare opportunity to come into a church without feeling they have to hide their inner identity. This will be the fourth year for Sparkle in the Cathedral; we hope that this year the welcome will spread wider than ever before.

This service welcomes transgender people of all races, nationalities and beliefs.
