Petition in support of Alan Craig

Please sign the petition in support of Alan Craig, who was nominated as the UKIP candidate to be a councillor for the South West London constituency of the Greater London Assembly, but who is under attack from LGBTs within UKIP, who are accusing him of homophobia.

His defeated LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transsexual) activist opponent, Richard Hendron, refuses to accept the result and has resigned from the party, having only garnered two votes (one of them being his own!) and some of his gay activist supporters have produced a petition with the aim of persuading the UKIP National Executive Council to cancel Alan’s nomination [A1]

The petition to deselect Alan Craig was written by Richard Hilton. It has been signed by Suzanne Evans, ex national deputy chairman of UKIP, who sought to take over the party herself, after saying on national media that she thought Nigel Farage was a divisive influence!

The LGBT petition reads

Alan Craig has recently been selected as the UKIP Greater London Assembly candidate for South West London. He is an outspoken homophobe who has addressed ‘gay cure’ meetings. We believe that selecting him as a candidate undermines the progress we as a party have made in broadening our appeal. While we support Mr Craig’s right to free speech, we believe it is inappropriate for UKIP to appear to endorse his offensive views by approving him as a GLA candidate. His appointment undermines the work of hard-working gay candidates like London Mayoral candidate Peter Whittle and others. We call on the UKIP Leader Nigel Farage and the NEC to urgently review Mr Craig’s suitability as a candidate.

Alan Craig is eminently qualified to represent the electorate having faithfully served the most disadvantaged people of Canning town, London, for 25 years and then as councillor for east London borough of Newham from 2002, where with prayer backing he was central to the blocking of a radical Islamic group building a mega mosque next to the Olympic stadium, which would have dwarfed the surrounding area, creating in effect a Sharia controlled area in London [A2].

He has continued to block repeated attempts to build the mosque, in spite of receiving death threats to him, his wife and children, back in 2007 [A3]

In 2008 he stood for mayor of London, coming sixth out of the top ten candidates.

It is not just more affordable housing we need in London but a secure and stable society. Alan Craig’s speech, in 2008, on mending broken Britain by mending marriage and family is absolutely key to all that he stands for. In his mayoral speech he was not frightened to say that what was damaging our capital and society was an aggressive, materialistic and selfish secular agenda that had been driven through by unprincipled governments over many decades.
