Relationships Education moves a step forward

Dec 20, 2017 by

from The Christian Institute:

The Government has launched a call for evidence on how to teach ‘Relationships Education’ as a statutory subject in primary schools across England.

Ministers plan to deny parents the right to withdraw their children from the classes, claiming that the new subject will focus on safety issues.

But we always expected transsexual and homosexual activists to try to hijack it to push their own agendas. A cursory glance at today’s media coverage shows these fears to have been realised, with Stonewall and the Sex Education Forum prominent.

At a time when there is growing alarm at the sexualisation of children, this change could lead to the sex education industry, which promotes explicit materials, having much greater influence.

‘Respect other views’ must not be turned into code for ‘celebrate LGBT lifestyles’. This is a recipe for intolerance.

The call for evidence will run until 12 February 2018. Submissions will help inform proposed guidance which will then be subject to additional public consultation.

We will write again in the New Year with details on how best to respond.
