Salisbury Cathedral backs city’s first ever Pride Parade

On Tuesday (5th July) we told you that Salisbury is getting its first ever Pride Parade at the end of the month, and now Spire FM can exclusively reveal that this inaugural event has now got the backing of Salisbury Cathedral.

Organisers at the Salisbury LGBT+ group are clearly incredibly excited to be receiving support from the Salisbury Diocese and the Church of England.

The Dean of Salisbury, The Very Reverend June Osborne, has confirmed to Spire FM that she plans to bless the start, as the crowd sets-off, on what promises to be a huge colourful parade on Saturday 30th July.

Having the Dean of Salisbury on board is a major coup for the Salisbury LGBT+ Group. It was only the end of May that they first came up with the idea of staging a Pride Parade in the city centre. They were expecting just a handful of people to show any interest, and maybe even fewer to take part. But they’ve been swept off their feet by the level of support.
