Where could studying Theology and Religious Studies take you?
Choosing a degree is about what prepares you for a world shaped by technological change, global connection, and deep differences in belief and identity. Theology and Religious Studies (TRS) speaks directly to that world.
TRS graduates go on to careers in law, journalism, policy, education, the civil service, finance, and the charitable sector. They’re valued for their ability to analyse complex information, communicate clearly, and handle disagreement with care. At the same time, TRS is intellectually engaging, bringing together philosophy, history, ethics, politics, and culture in a single field.

What you study
TRS explores how beliefs shape individuals and societies. You might examine ethical and philosophical questions, study religious traditions, analyse texts, or explore religion’s role inpublic life.
A typical course includes topics such as religion and artificial intelligence, medical ethics, philosophy, religion and climate change, or freedom of speech. Courses vary across universities, and you do not need A–level Religious Studies to apply.
Why it matters now
Religion and belief continue to influence public life. Understanding how belief shapes identity, language, and conflict is increasingly important.
