Bishop Andrew Watson sent an ad clerum that he has inoperable pancreatic cancer, with secondaries in the liver. He’ll begin chemotherapy soon. The immediate future is uncertain. He wrote in his letter to clergy “Those with great faith might wish to pray for my complete healing, and that, of course, would be wonderful; but ‘cheerfully persisting’ towards a good death also bears testimony to our living Lord, and St. Paul’s testimony – that ‘for me to live is Christ, to die is gain’ (Philippians 1:21) – is the greatest comfort of them all.”
Many here will want to pray that the Lord would sustain him in such a confident faith through the trial – whilst also praying that his contending for orthodoxy in the House of Bishops may be continued for as long as possible!
