Is Wales a foretaste of where the Church of England is heading? Bishop Stuart Bell joins me to discuss. Stuart has been in ministry for 54 years. He left the Church in Wales after its 2021 vote to allow blessings for same-sex couples. He now serves as a bishop in the Anglican Convocation in Europe (ACE) and pastors a lively congregation near Aberystwyth. Watch the full video here:
Why does Wales matter? In September 2021, the Church in Wales authorised services to bless same-sex civil marriages and partnerships. In July this year, it elected Bishop Cherry Vann as the UK’s first female archbishop. She is in a same-sex civil partnership. Meanwhile, the Church of England has commended “Prayers of Love and Faith” for same-sex couples and, in July 2024, backed stand-alone services in principle.
