Major Court Victory on “Conversion Therapy”

This good news offers hope for so many:

Let me start with a scenario: a person who says she is addicted to chocolate, or to buying too many clothes, goes to a friend to get some counsel on how to change. Prayer might even be asked for as part of this. Yet the state has declared that anyone offering such counsel or even just praying for the person can be fined or imprisoned.

Far fetched you say? Simply change the addictive behaviour to unwanted same-sex attraction and you have the reality found in many Western nations. Those who offer advice, counsel and prayer to homosexuals who are struggling with their sexual desires are said to be engaging in “conversion therapy” and that is now against the law in much of the West.

And consider one more irony, before I look at the new court case ruling. If a guy thinks he is actually female and he goes down the path of irrevocably altering his body with chemicals, surgery and the like, what is he doing? He is engaging in “conversion therapy”. Yet here the state and others affirm and promote these dangerous bodily mutilations and irreversible procedures!

That is why the recent US Supreme Court decision striking down Colorado’s conversion therapy ban is such a huge win – not just for Christian counsellors but for everyone seeking help for unwanted conditions. Gerald Posner said this about the outcome:
