Reflections on the March For Life, London, 2026
It was good to be back on the March For Life in a resplendently sunny London at the weekend, and to speak at the pre-march “Family Summit” at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster.
I mentioned the reactions my wife and I have often experienced to having “a socially inappropriate volume of children.” I also talked about why marches and protests and lobbying alone will not be sufficient to stand against the culture of death. We must promote a truly Biblical view of marriage, family, and children, however embarrassing it may seem to the feminists and secularists who have come to see the having of children as more of a curse than a blessing, a direct reversal of the Psalms.
We must show the world why God’s design for the family is the foundation of a healthy society. This will seem strange to those who continue to see light as darkness and darkness as light, and so will continue to speak against God’s design as if it was evil rather than good. This is all the more reason why we must not shrink back from standing up for it, that we might shine the light of Christ to a dark, deaf, and spiritually sick world which has somehow come to see the killing of innocent unborn children as a prime example of its “freedom”.
Straight after my talk I had to hurry up and out of the main auditorium and then down to the Lower Hall, where I was due to give a talk to the 5-11-year olds about a Biblical hero of my choice. I was told not to mention abortion. This may seem odd given the entire point of the day was about abortion, but I guess different parents take different approaches to how much or how early they wish to expose their young children to that particular horror story. I tend to talk about abortion with my children as early as possible. It helps to show them the reality of the darkness for which our mission as Christians to be the light of the world becomes more distinct and urgent. It makes sense of why we do what we do and say what we say.
