Britain Tops Global Rise in Antisemitism Among Major Jewish Diaspora Countries
A mosque attended by the jihadi responsible for the death of two Jewish worshippers at a synagogue on the holiest day in the Jewish calendar—Yom Kippur—in 2025 faces a probe for preaching antisemitic sermons calling on God to “deal with the Jews.”
Britain’s charity watchdog has begun reviewing three sermons delivered in April 2024 at the Al-Sunnah Mosque in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, which were posted on its official YouTube page but later deleted, The Times reported on July 29, noting that it had alerted the Charity Commission.
Jihad al-Shamie and Mohammad Bashir, the jihadis who planned and perpetrated the ramming and stabbing attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation on October 2, 2025, attended the mosque and discussed plans for holy war and martyrdom, CCTV and audio footage revealed.
British-Syrian al-Shamie rammed his car into the gates of the synagogue as congregants gathered for morning prayer. After stabbing 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz to death, al-Shamie attempted to storm the synagogue. Police shot the jihadi dead, but a bullet fired by a police officer inadvertently killed 53-year-old worshipper Adrian Daulby.
Sermons Ask Allah to “Deal with the Jews”
In one video, Sheikh Al-Dukali Muhammad Al-Alim, who has been identified as the imam preaching the offending sermons, is seen imploring Allah to “deal with the Jews” and to “seize them with the seizure of the Mighty, the Powerful.”
In a second sermon, the imam asks Allah to “deal with the Zionists” and the “Zionist aggressors” and “seize them with the seizing of the Mighty.” The sermon also asks God to “grant victory to Islam and cherish the Muslims, humiliate polytheism and the polytheists.”
“God, hasten victory for our brothers in Palestine,” Al-Alim prays in a third video. “Send upon them reinforcements from You with which You will repel those who disbelieve and those who transgress. Our Lord, God, deal with the Zionist aggressors, for they cannot escape Your power.”
