The group’s launch event in Birmingham was cancelled after the venue said it could not provide a ‘safe space

West Midlands police have opened a criminal investigation into activist group the Anti Zionist Movement after it posted about “zio eradication” ahead of its launch event in Birmingham this coming Sunday.

The event was cancelled after the venue, The Old Print Works, received hundreds of complaints and said it could not provide “a safe space” on the day.

The event would have featured speakers including controversial academic David Miller and suspended NHS doctor Rahmeh Aladwan.

The group stated it was for “liberation via zio eradication” on its social media, and promotional material for the event published online stated it was “pro armed resistance” and “campaigns against Jewish Supremacy”.

West Midlands Police announced today that it has opened a formal criminal investigation into offences on a social media post related to the event.
