The horrors of Oct 7 are still seared into my mind. Why won’t the West wake up?

If the blinkered pro-Palestine crowd want to talk about ‘genocide’, they should start with Israel’s murdered mothers and mutilated children

What is wrong with people? Seriously, how grotesquely insensitive is it possible to be and still retain your membership card for the human race? When I heard that students were planning a pro-Palestinian march through London on the third anniversary of the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, I experienced a surge of anger followed by this feeling of immense helplessness. Do those self-righteous, privileged kids, swathed in their recreational keffiyehs and wearing the blinkers of identity politics, have any idea what that date means, not just for now but for all time?

Twin baby boys, their mother slaughtered in the kitchen fetching milk for them, their father riddled with bullets as he struggled to keep the door of the safe room shut; the orphaned babies used as bait for 14 hours, little Guy and Roi, 10 months old, left to scream so they would lure neighbours to rescue them and those brave souls were then picked off by the terrorists lying in wait. I stood outside that house on Kibbutz Kfar Aza imagining all too well the panic of parents unable to protect their children; the number of bodies recovered was chalked on the wall. Yes, but…
