Islamist thugs and the mob know what they want and are determined to get it. We must have the courage to stop them
Something is rotten in the state of British policing. It is now confirmed that West Midlands Police lied for months. They lied to the Jewish community. They lied to Parliament and the public. And today’s report exposed their shocking failure to do their job without fear or favour.
The Home Secretary has finally admitted there is a problem and declared she has no confidence in Craig Guildford, the Chief Constable. But neither Guildford nor his local Police and Crime Commissioner are ready to act. Shabana Mahmood has the power to direct the Police and Crime Commissioner to sack Guildford – but denies it is her job to get rid of him.
Now the facts are confirmed beyond doubt, we need speed and accountability. Of course, the Chief Constable must go, but so must the senior officers who also lied. What happened was not the mistake of a single individual. It is proof of how – confronted by the politics of communalism – British policing has gone wrong.
