Transatlantic pushback for real marriage!

The pushback against redefining marriage continues on both sides of the Atlantic.

In America this week, the Southern Baptist Convention – the largest Protestant denomination in the US – adopted a bold resolution reaffirming its commitment to real marriage, explicitly calling for the Supreme Court’s controversial 2015 ruling legalising same-sex marriage to be overturned.

Titled ‘On Restoring Moral Clarity through God’s Design for Gender, Marriage and the Family’, the resolution advocates for overturning laws, including Obergefell v. Hodges, that oppose traditional family values. It urges support for laws that affirm marriage exclusively between one man and one woman, recognise the biological reality of male and female, protect children’s innocence, uphold parental rights, incentivise family formation, and ensure fairness in sport.

This strong stance is part of a broader American revolt against the LGBT agenda, as popular support for same-sex marriage has recently dropped to barely above 50%. Additionally, lawmakers in nine states have already taken legislative steps to affirm and restore man-woman marriage, anticipating a future overturning of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
