Iran’s supreme leader, killed in an Israeli airstrike, has been mourned at student organisations across the country —where IRGC leaflets are shared

Mourners sobbed as they paid tribute to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at a mosque which has been described as the Iranian regime’s UK “nerve centre”, videos online suggest.

Candles and photographs of the supreme leader were placed outside the Islamic Centre of England [ICE], in north London, where one mourner chanted “we will obey you Khamenei”.

The mourners were among many at mosques and student organisations across the country which have organised vigils and tributes to Khamenei, who oversaw brutal crackdowns on the Iranian people and the repression of dissidents abroad.

Kasra Aarabi, of United Against Nuclear Iran, who has been monitoring the activity, said: “These are vigils for a man who had British blood on his hands, who ordered terror plots on British soil. That is deeply concerning.”

At least 15 Islamic student societies at British universities mourned Khamenei’s death, describing him as a martyr and sharing material attributed to the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps [IRGC].

Leaflets were circulated online about vigils at mosques in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham.
