Britain, Australia and Canada have now formally recognized a Palestinian State, putting it at odds with the Trump administration and the State of Israel.
That there is a humanitarian crisis is without doubt, but who created it seems to be the question. Hamas holds 48 hostages and refuses to surrender its remaining forces now surrounded by the IDF in Gaza City. Hamas cannot possibly win, but it continues, by some convoluted logic, to win the public relations war in the wider world.
For Israel to accept and recognize this move would put Israel on suicide watch.
Melanie Phillips, a British Jewish journalist and author, noted sarcastically, “…today’s recognition (by Sir Keir Starmer) is of …what, precisely? An aspiration? A process? An idea dreamed up in the bath? Frankly, this clown-show makes Neville Chamberlain look like a titan of far-sighted statesmanship.”
