by John Denning, The Christian Institute:

A new academic year often brings a mixture of excitement and nervousness, for parents as well as children. It’s especially true when children are starting a new school – how will they get on?

Christian parents may also have particular concerns about what will be taught on certain topics and whether their beliefs could be undermined. There are real challenges. But there are also tremendous opportunities.

Engaging with schools leafletOur short new guide, Engaging with schools, offers parents a variety of ways to contribute confidently and constructively to their child’s school, especially in controversial areas like sex education.

The guide considers the duties on schools and the rights of parents, and includes practical advice for effective involvement. Please share it with Christian parents you know. Free printed copies are available on request from info@christian.org.uk or by calling 0191 281 5664.

Please pray that Christian pupils, teachers, parents and governors will act as salt and light in schools this academic year.

Yours in Christ,
John Denning
