Mohammed film protest backer is government’s Islamophobia adviser

Imam Qari Asim says The Lady of Heaven is ‘derogatory’ and backs those who are protesting for screenings to be cancelled.

One of the figures agitating for cinemas to cancel a film accused of “blasphemy” is the Government’s adviser on Islamophobia, The Telegraph can reveal.

[…]  Yorkshire demonstration organiser and Bradford-based cleric Shahid Ali branded the film “divisive” and “sectarian”, but there may be divisions among protestors themselves.

Mr Ali was previously involved in an online doctrinal spat with Deobandi cleric Abdul Haleem – who delivered a speech during protests outside the Vue cinemas in Leeds – accusing him of spreading “lies and slander”.
