New threat to gospel freedom

Dec 6, 2020 by

from Christian Institute:

The Westminster Government is expected to consult soon on banning practices that seek to change someone’s sexual orientation – so-called ‘conversion therapy’.

‘Conversion therapy’ is a deliberately broad term chosen by LGBT campaigners working with the Government. It covers far more than abusive practices of quack medical practitioners or charlatan preachers, which are largely illegal already. Campaigners want to stop criticism of LGBT lifestyles. In some cases, routine Christian counselling and prayer could be banned.

Such a law would affect the core activities of churches. It inevitably limits evangelism, since repentance from sin is at the heart of the Gospel message. It could make it illegal to minister to LGBT people by praying with them or offering pastoral counsel.

Please join us in praying that gospel churches will be protected from these plans. Also pray that the true intentions of campaigners who want to attack religious liberty would be exposed.
