No-fault divorce Bill could be a welcome casualty of Commons gridlock

Amid the current parliamentary turmoil there are many unknowns. But a General Election next month looks likely. If that happens, any legislation that hasn’t completed the parliamentary process will fall.

The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill had a rushed Second Reading and Committee Stage in the House of Commons before the summer, but hasn’t moved forward since. There’s not much time for it to make progress, which would have to include going through the House of Lords.

There’s a good chance the Bill, which applies to England and Wales, will have to be dropped. Let’s hope so. Here’s our new video explaining why the no-fault divorce plan is so wrong:
