Officials ‘turn blind eye to forced marriage, don’t want to rock the cultural boat’

from Westmonster:

Officials have been accused of turning a blind eye to forced marriages because ‘they don’t want to rock the cultural boat’.

The Home Office received more than 3,800 reports of forced marriages, or people being at risk of forced marriage, in the last three years alone.

Half of them were under 15-years-old, 30% were aged between 15 and 18.

But fewer than 80 suspects had been charged in this time.

Jasvinder Sanghera, the founder of Karma Nirvana, which supports victims of forced marriage, said: “We’ve got a number of professionals who are turning a blind eye. They don’t want to rock the multicultural boat.”

This barbaric practice has no place in British society. Authorities need to come down hard on this and stamp it out.
