The diversity juggernaut

The diversity industry is growing. But a quick Google check to find out how many it employed in the UK did not deliver me a response. Instead, pages of references to the lack of and need for it rose in front of my eyes. One lonely article headed ‘It’s time to shut down the diversity industry’ caught my eye. It was dated June 1, 2012

It was a vain hope. Graeme Archer was whistling in the wind with his cry that ‘whoever we are, we are not reducible to a single wretched label’. Never mind that he was one hundred per cent right.

Six years later, there are armies occupied with diversity grievance, measurement, monitoring and advocacy. Businesses never stop organising day conferences or instigating investigations into insufficient diversity. And we wonder why Britain is afflicted with low productivity.

What I did find in my searches, however, was a brilliant PragerU video in which the great Heather Mac Donald reveals how America’s university campuses spend millions on administrators and programmes to combat the usual ‘isms’ regardless of whether these are really problems or not. I wish some one would get going here with a similar expose.
