The ‘gay cake’ battle wasn’t worth fighting

The “gay cake” case now stands as a victory against compelled speech. Lawyers say it may also set a precedent to dismay Stonewall. After the Maya Forstater case, gender critical views are deemed beliefs worthy of respect in a democratic society. So employees forced by companies to put their pronouns on their email signatures or instructed to refer to “birthing persons” or “menstruators” instead of “women” might invoke Lee v Ashers if they object……what a shame political discourse has come to this sad polarised place, where everyone who disagrees with you is a foe, and instead of building something worthwhile you battle through a court for seven years to force Christians to bake a cake.
