Archbishop Nicholas Okoh Emerges Chairman Of GAFCON

Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, the Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh has been elected the new chairman of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) Primates’ council.

A statement issued by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) secretariat, which was made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday said Archbishop Okoh was elected during a meeting of the Primates’ council held in Nairobi, Kenya from 18 to 22 April, 2016

The statement signed by the secretary general, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Ven. Prof Israel ‘Kelue Okoye explained that Archbishop Okoh would succeed the Most Rev’d Eliud Wabukala, the Primate of the Anglican Church in Kenya.

The election of Archbishop Okoh to lead the GAFCON Primates’ Council, according to the statement, is an eloquent testimony of his exemplary leadership in ensuring that the Anglican Church remains faithful to Jesus Christ and the Bible in her teachings and practices.

The statement noted that the Archbishop had earlier served as the chairman, Theological Resource Group of GAFCON, adding that the Almighty God who called him to lead the Primates’ Council of GAFCON would equip him sufficiently for the discharge of this enormous responsibilities.
