Tory Cabinet minister Justine Greening piles pressure on religious leaders to let gay couples marry in church

A senior Cabinet Minister piled pressure on religious leaders today to let gay couples marry in church.

Equalities Minister Justine Greening urged faith chiefs to “keep up” with 21st Century attitudes.

She was speaking ahead of Thursday’s 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of gay relationships.

The Government today unveiled a crackdown on homophobic playground bullying, including kids calling each other gay as an insult.

Other announcements timed to mark the 1967 Sexual Offences Act’s anniversary include allowing gay men to donate blood three months after having sex instead of a year, and making it easier for transgender people to chose their legal sex.
