Archbishop of York leads a Rock Mass to offer a ‘fresh perspective on worship’

The Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend Stephen Cottrell, recently led a Rock Mass as part of the Diocese of Leeds’ decade-long celebrations.

The service, a fusion of modern rock music and traditional liturgy, aimed to offer attendees “a fresh perspective on worship.”

During his visit, the Archbishop emphasised the Church’s dedication to finding new methods to connect with the community while preserving its historical essence.

“As a former vicar of Huddersfield, familiar with Mixenden, it’s heartening to witness the ongoing vibrancy of creativity and connection in this wonderful community,” the Most Rev Cottrell told the Halifax Courier.
