Leftist groups disrupted a pro-Amazon Synod interfaith service led by two Brazilian cardinals featuring a witch, medium, imam, Buddhist monk, Marxist pastor, and progressive rabbi at Sé Metropolitan Cathedral, São Paulo.

“Our deities (orishas) are in nature, in water, air, land,” Candomblé priestess-witch Adriana de Nanã said at the event organised by Cdl. Odilo Scherer, Archbishop of São Paulo and Cdl. Claudio Hummes, personally chosen by Pope Francis to lead the Amazon Synod.

“Together let’s think about the great causes of humanity. The synod is not exclusive; it is inclusive. The Amazon crisis is serious. We are experiencing a major socio-environmental crisis,” explained Hummes, justifying the interfaith gathering.

Leftwing activists in the congregation soon turned the service into a Lula Livre (“Free Lula”) demonstration calling for the release of former Brazilian socialist president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who began serving a 12 year prison sentence in 2018 for corruption.
