Churches across England will be holding ‘light and bright parties’ as an alternative to Halloween parties this weekend.

Rather than ignoring the celebration, churches will open their doors to host games, arts and crafts and even provide an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of someone special in the eve of All Saints.

The 31st October, known as Halloween by many, originates from the phrase “All Hallows Eve” meaning the night before the church’s festival celebrating All Saints.

The Church of England has also [posted an article on light parties and] created a search engine on their website to find local churches hosting ‘light and bright parties’.
