Gardaí had to be called to remove controversial priest Fr Seán Sheehy and a group of protesters from the constituency office of Education Minister Norma Foley at a recent rally in Tralee.

The online video shows the priest, who denounced homosexuality during a sermon in a Kerry church in November 2022, and a group of around 20 people part of a rally against sex education in schools.

The group initially gathered outside the Tralee office before eventually going inside to confront the staff.

One member of staff said she was assured that a peaceful protest would be held outside the office, and not inside. She then asked them to ‘please leave’ before calling the guards.

But the protesters continued to express anger at the teaching of what they claim is ‘explicit’ sex education in primary schools.

One protester said Minister Foley was ‘ignoring’ their concerns about explicit textbooks on sex education that are being ‘put in the hands of children’.

Fr Sheehy can be seen in the video entering the office and asking staff to communicate to Minister Foley that ‘she is a total hypocrite’.

“She calls herself Catholic and yet she promotes practically everything that contradicts the Catholic Church,” he said.

“The schools now are no longer educational institutions, they are indoctrination institutions,” he added.
