LEADING THERAPISTS who provide expert support for clients with unwanted issues of sexuality and gender are to meet in London this month to launch The International Federation for Therapeutic and Counselling Choice (IFTCC).

The event, followed by therapists from across the globe, will gather in Central London on Monday 15th October 2018 to hear a range of expert speakers.

Academics and practitioners representing different professional bodies will defend the rights of individuals to seek and to provide counselling support for those wishing to leave homosexual practices and gender confusions. They will also offer perspective on the UK Government’s recent National LGBT Research Report and 2018 LGBT Action Plan. These documents label counselling help in this area as “abhorrent” and state the government’s intention to ban therapeutic practice in this area. The IFTCC’s web presence will also be launched and is available at www.iftcc.org

Paediatric Endocrinologist Dr Quentin Van Meter, who is also Vice President of the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) and an international speaker, will address the issue of transgender medicine. ACPeds is a national organisation of paediatricians and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of children. He will be supported by Dr Christl Vonholdt, a retired German paediatrician, and Vice Chairman of the IFTCC.

Other speakers include American Psychological Association (APA) member and licensed psychologist Dr Laura Haynes, who has over 40 years clinical practice experience and is the Chair of Research and Legislative Policy for the National Task Force for Therapy Equality, and a Consultant for ACPeds. Dr Haynes is a former regional president of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and has lobbied and testified before legislative committee hearings in several states in the USA.

Dr Haynes will be accompanied by licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, David Pickup, who serves in counselling practices in California and Texas. He leads a National Taskforce for Therapy Equality and has campaigned nationally in support of the rights and freedoms for those offering counselling help, and for those seeking help for unwanted sexual feelings and gender confusions.
