“You won’t get briefings from Number 10 on how to die”

The Bishop of Kensington, Rt Rev Graham Tomlin, wrote in the Times on Saturday February 6 that “strangely, we have spoken endlessly about deaths, but not death itself during these extraordinary times. You won’t get briefings from No 10 on how to die. ”

“To be honest, I doubt whether you’ll get many sermons on that topic these days, but if there was a time to think about it, surely it’s now, when we are walking in the valley of the shadow of death.”

He argues that “Maybe the lesson of these times is to be prepared, to look at this life in the light of death and strangely find it can mean more when we remember it won’t last for ever, and that death, like birth, could even be the gateway to something even more wonderful than this world that awaited us on the day we were born.”
