Barnabas Fund issues detailed response to attacks on Patrick Sookhdeo.

A 50 page booklet, entitled “Hard Pressed on Every Side”, has been published by Barnabas Aid International. It explains how the charity, well-known and highly respected for its support of the persecuted church worldwide and for its clear exposure of the philosophy and aims of jihadist Islam, has suffered damage to its reputation in recent months, but has remained resilient. In particular the report shows how Barnabas Fund’s founder and leader until last year, Patrick Sookhdeo, has been attacked by other Christian groups and individuals over a number of years in ways that reflect very badly on their integrity.

There is an outline of Dr Sookhdeo’s life and ministry history, how Barnabas Fund began, the subsequent success of the organization, and why this was not universally supported. This serves as detailed background to the articles defaming Dr Sookhdeo which appeared in Christian Today in 2015, and also recent high profile cases of sexual harassment. The authors of the booklet make clear that it is only after a long period of public silence and attempts to mediate with some of the opponents (who include former Trustees) that this account is being published, in a bid to protect Barnabas Fund from further harm now that Dr Sookhdeo is no longer involved in the leadership of the ministry.
