There’s lot of anger about the chaotic scenes inside Parliament last night.

But let’s talk about the outrageous scenes outside Parliament and across the country that influenced what our elected representatives chose to do yesterday.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle was clearly pressured to allow that Labour amendment. And it appears the Labour Party and leadership pressured him.

Not just because they wanted to have a vote that didn’t make Labour rebels and Keir Starmer look badand weak. They also were in fear for the lives of some of their MPs.

We see that across all the benches. Why? Because a highly political, highly violent ideology calledIslamism is sweeping our nation.

This is not Islamophobia. This is real. You know how this is real? Because we actually see the victims.

Not just in Mike Freer, the Justice Minister who said he’s not standing for Parliament again because of the threats to him and his family from Islamist ideologies.

We see it in Sir David Ames, an MP brutally murdered because of Islamic ideology. We see it in StephenTimms, the Labour MP who thankfully survived a stabbing in his own constituency.

We all focus on Jo Cox, another tragic death, at the hands of a far-right extremist. But the far-right extremist violence is by far the minority.

Let’s just go through a list of the Islamic extremist events we’ve seen in recent years.

Watch:  MP Robert Jenrick in Parliament: Yesterday was a dark day for our democracy. It’s part of a pattern of Islamist extremists intimidating those they disagree with, backed by the prospect of violence. We must call it what it is and have the confidence in our liberal values to push back robustly.
