BIBLICAL MEDITATION – In the Psalm 40 for the morning, David endeavors to get us to consider, how our pride, cause us to conclude that God will not assist us in difficult situations of our own making. We hear Psalmist saying, “Out of the mire we can be delivered, yet we doubt that we can be lifted up at times. But God is not the one who doesn’t deliver on living out the Covenant of our lives even when we distance ourselves; he still hears our cry for help but we must be willing to render our essence to the Lord. If we can do this, those who are curious about the faith will “see” what the Lord has done and they too may put their trust in the Lord.

PRAYER: O Christ, living sign of the Father’s love, we adore You as the Center of our lives. You are our model for grace, truth, and living in the light of the Father. Be our strength in times of sorrow and trouble; be our joy in times of sadness; be our light in the darkness of sin and our troubled world. We are in awe of Your holy Presence. May we rejoice and share the signs of Your coming with one another. Amen

O King of the Nations  –-O Antiphon’s of the Day

LATIN :O Rex gentium et desideratus earum, lapisque angularis, qui facis utraque unum,: veni et salva hominem, quem de limo formasti).

ENGLISH :O Come, Desire of nations, bind in one the hearts of all mankind; bid thou our sad divisions cease, and by thyself our Prince of Peace.)

We are reminded in this Antiphon, that Christ himself is one whom  people and  nations will seek as he and his word will go out to the ends of the earth despite it starts in an obscure village in an unnoticed part of the world at that time.  A people  come, from east and from west, and take their place as the wise men and shepherds did. No matter what  our station or where we come from  the angels trumpet  call goes out this year anew to bring us again into Christ’s kingdom.

Spiritual Discipline/Activity Put out a Jesse Tree in your home or office a small tree made of evergreen branches. On these are placed symbolic ornaments with each representing a prophecy foretelling of Christ.  With your families or small groups, you can also create ornaments that represent the monogram symbols of Christianity.

ANCIENT WISDOM/PRESENT GRACE: “Advent is concerned with that very connection between memory and hope which is so necessary to man. Advent intends to awaken the most profound and basic emotional memory within us, namely, the memory of the God who became a child. This is a healing memory; it brings hope.” —Benedict XVI, Bishop of Rome.
