Church of England Evangelical Council commends new contribution to the ‘Living in Love and Faith’ Project

The Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) has today commended a major contribution to the Church of England’s Living in Love and Faith Project.

Glorify God in your Body has been written by CEEC’s Theological Consultant Dr Martin Davie (in collaboration with a representative group of other Evangelical theologians) and explores a Christian approach to human identity, marriage, singleness, friendship, sex and family life in the light of a worldview that is laid out in Scripture and the classical Christian tradition.

The book considers the current challenges to this approach arising from the sexual revolution and from technological developments in the fields of birth control and infertility treatment and looks at how Christians should respond to them in ways that will enable them to fulfil St. Paul’s injunction to “glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20).

Commenting on the study, the President of CEEC, The Rt Revd Julian Henderson, said “The changes in society and the challenges facing the Church of England on matters of sexuality demand a thorough and biblical exploration. This study is wide-ranging and rigorous and provides those in the Church of England and more widely with positive and biblical insights into the current debates.”

The Chair of CEEC, The Revd Hugh Palmer, added “Our desire is for the Church of England’s teaching and practice to offer a vision of human flourishing which is faithful to Scripture. This volume makes an invaluable contribution towards that, and we warmly commend it to all those involved in and following the current debate.”
