The sheer scale of family breakdown

NEARLY HALF of all children grow up outside the traditional two parent household, according to a report from children’s commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza. By the time children finish school, 44% are not living with both natural parents. We published similar findings in 2013 and 2019. The story made the front page of the Times, as did my quote for Marriage Foundation.
NEW DIVORCE LAWS have been blamed for a jump in divorce applications. However the data shows that the 6,000 increase in the latest quarter follows a 7,000 reduction at the end of last year. In other words, it’s just couples holding off until the new rules began in April.
