WATCH: The Bill of Rights 2022 examined

from The Christian Institute:

The UK Government is proposing to replace the Human Rights Act 1998 with a Bill of Rights. It says the Bill is intended to “ensure courts cannot interpret laws in ways that were never intended by Parliament”.

As it stands, greater weight will be given to protecting free speech. This is good news, but there is more that needs to be done.

We also have significant concerns that landmark judgments in Christian Institute cases such as Ashers Baking Co. and the Named Person scheme would be harder to achieve in future. Specific religious liberty protections successfully campaigned for by The Christian Institute also risk being axed.

Watch as Ciarán Kelly talks to Dave Greatorex and Sam Webster about the problems with the Government’s proposed Bill of Rights.
